Antalya – the pearl of the Turkish Mediterranean

Antalya is one of the resort cities of Turkey, namely the Turkish Mediterranean, located in the south of the country. The mild climate, golden sandy beaches, ancient historical monuments and developed infrastructure are the main “whales” on which the incredible tourist popularity of the city rests.

Antalya – the pearl of the Turkish Mediterranean
The nature of Antalya is impressive in richness and brightness. The Taurus Mountains, covered with a cloak of cypress trees, orange trees and pines, rise here above the blue waters of the sea. In the spring on the mountain slopes nature draws fabulous patterns of cyclamen and orchids. If you go to the shore early in the morning, you can see how calm the water surface merges with the white dawn haze and white clouds. No wonder that in ancient times the Mediterranean was called the White!

Antalya can offer an informative excursion program for anyone who is interested in history and does not want to spend a vacation just on the beach. The streets of the old city are full of the charm, charm and romance of antiquity. Here are preserved monuments of the era of the Romans, Byzantines, Seljuks and Ottomans. Shops and colorful shops urge to plunge into the element of shopping. The aromas of strong coffee and delicate jasmine soar in the hot air. This is how the soul of Turkey looks and smells.

Antiquity is represented here by the gates of Hadrian, which were erected in honor of the emperor in the year 130.
Antalya Archaeological Museum proposes to evaluate the richest collection of ancient finds. Sculptures, household items, weapons, furniture, coins of different eras are displayed in 14 halls. All these wine vessels, clay figurines, statues of mythical heroes and emperors, golden incense burners, rich sarcophagi, Byzantine mosaics and Ottoman amulets cause genuine admiration.

Yivli Mosque in Antalya
The symbol of the resort is the Yivli Mosque, built in 1230 in honor of the Seljuk sultan. Its brick minaret, decorated with tiled mosaic, is visible from anywhere in the city. Another fine example of Islamic architecture is located on the shore of the yacht harbor. A small mosque Iskele is buried in the southern greenery. A wonderful idea for city walks is to find all the mosques and madrasas of Antalya. There are a lot of them in the city: Tekeli Mehmet Pasha’s mosque, Murat Pasha’s mosque, Karatay madrasah, Kesik minaret.

Be sure to visit the Turkish hammam, which is in many hotels. First, the client is given a foam massage with a special mitten, then the face or the whole body is covered with a layer of healing clay, and then the personal master masterly gives a relaxing massage. After the wellness procedures, the visitor is served herbal teas, juices or coffee.

For every guest Antalya will always be a mysterious, unexpected, close and accessible treasure trove of the Mediterranean.
